The purpose of audience feedback is to see what are target audience think of the products we have made. To do this we have used multiple types of social media to distribute are questions. We primarily used Survey Monkey to create the survey's which we embedded onto are blog but also used a web link. The reasons we used surveys was because this is the quickest way to gain feedback but also a quick way to send it to people.
With the feedback we will look at the strengths that people have given us that we have done well with are products, but also the weaknesses that we could have done differently to improve are work.
Are target audience is people aged 18-24 however because of our age range the people who have taken the survey have been 17 and older. This allows us to get a wider range of opinions and answers.

Survey Monkey
Survey Monkey is a online a place where people can create online surveys for all sorts of purposes, they can them use multiple ways of distributing the questions. Survey Monkey has been very important when communicating with our audience and finding out information not only about our products but in genral about there opinions on what they like from existing media products.
We have used Survey Monkey for our Audience Research for pre-production. This is where we asked general questions about magazine, poster and trailer audience opinions. Questions like When watching a trailer what do you find most noticeable?. Asking questions like this before we went into production was very important as it have us guidance for how we should create are product. From the audience questions we found that for the trailer sound was important in creating suspense. But also that on the cover of the magazine and poster should be the antagonist, in order to create a fear response from the audience.

TEASER TRAILER

RESULTS

Unfortunately, we had already completed the trailer by the time I had collected the results of the trailer poll. Ideally, I would've utilised the results of this survey to enhance the trailer, and make it the best it possibly could be. Most of the audience responded very positively towards the questions, with the only bits of constructive criticism in the form of the solitary voter who deemed our trailer 'predictable'. To rectify this, In future I would review the storyboard of the trailer and see where it's possible to include a swerve of sorts in order for the trailer to retain a degree of unpredictability.
Also, in future I would take note of the written suggestions answering Question 7. The lighting and continuity of the trailer were highlighted problems, and to make the trailer as appealing as possible to an audience, I would seek to correct these issues.

TWITTER
I used Twitter to spread word of my trailer, and heighten the number of people that were watching the product in order to get the largest demographic possible. Below are some of the ways I spread word of the trailer on Twitter.

The first response was highly insightful and essentially acted as an extended review/analysis on our trailer. The sound was the main source of confusion for this audience member, and would be something that is looked deeply into, if I was to do this trailer again. They were largely positive and enthusiastic in their reply, however, implying that viewing the trailer was an overall positive experience for them. Since this response we have added a proper backing track to ensure the authenticity of the product.
WHATSAPP
WhatsApp was also used to spread the word of our trailer, and similarly to Twitter, allowed me to send links of the trailer to people privately. I received responses on WhatsApp that helped me further in determining what the strong and weak points of our trailer were.

Again, this feedback is very positive and constructive. It highlights the camera work in addition to the acting and editing, in order to ensure the audience member has reviewed all parts of our trailer. The only negative for this person is a cosmetic issue relating to the choice of mask used on the antagonist.
YOUTUBE ANALYTICS
By Blesson
This the Youtube analytics for the Eerie Productions Final Trailer. For the last 28 days, 24 views have gone up which could be way better. The trailer overall has 48 views which could be way better and needs to be proliferated 10 times more.
60% of the watch time is external which is probably from the Eerie Productions. The 31% is from a Youtube seatc which means that viewers wanted to see the trailer and therefore searched it up. The 9.1% is direct or unknown.
POSTER

On question 2 of my survey, 80% of the answes stated that the most noticeable feature is the doninant image. The other 20% said that the contrasr imwith the colours was more noticeable. This means I was successful in making the dominant image the eye catcher because the dominant image is a silhouette of the antagonist. This was intended to add an element of mytery by making the killer unknown. This was also intended because the antagonist makes the show; without it, the word slasher means nothing.
|
For question 3, this also received 100% positive feedback. The reason for this question was that in order for success, a brand identity needs to be continued from one form of media to another. This telates back to question 2 which talks about the idea of brand identity and how successful films like Friday the 13th use it to differentiate themselves from other films so that viewers will be able to know just from looking.
|
For question 4, we got mixed responses. One said that the poster had no strength. Others said the doninant image was a strength for the poster. One other said that the blur effect was a strength. The reason for the blur effect was to create a theme of distortion so that hopefully, the viewers feel creeped out.

MAGAZINE

I used Photo Booth to record the reaction and answers to our magazine. I was off camera and asked the survey questions while he looked at a image of the magazine.
|
For the feedback for the magazine I decided to send the questions on Watsapp to some of my friends, I screen shot some of the answers.
Q2) Can you tell the magazine is about a horror film?
Because all of the people asked, whether they could recognise the magazine as being horror means that overall the image of the magazine has meant that we have successfully mage are magazine product. We have achieved this because of the use of conventions and things that are recognisable, for example the dominant image is of the antagonist who is in a mask which is conventional of slasher horror films. This therefore makes the magazine successful, and the target audience has recognised this. |
Q3) What caught your eye the most about the front cover?
With this question it was left open, this means that the people ask could comment whatever they felt was right. This is useful as it means we can get more insight into the opinions for are products. Most of the people asked said that the antagonist dominant image was most noticeable. With the use of direct mode of address the audience feels more of a connection and as it's most noticeable it therefore means it was successful. |
Q8) Can you give a weakness?
In order to gain more insight into how the magazine comes across we asked what they thought a weakness was. Some gave answers about the font and text, for example "not sure about the yellow", despite this being called a weakness we can say that it might not be that important as they feel the colour scheme works, therefore it still looks good. Another response was "the man should be blanked out more, similar to the poster". This is a insightful answer as it mean we could improve the overall brand. |
Q9) How likely would it be that you buy the magazine?
This question depends on whether people read magazines anyway. However the response does show that nobody said they would not likely buy the magazine, which suggest that people would buy the magazine. In order to improve this question we could of had another question before hand asking whether people buy magazines. In order to accommodate everybody we could have a online version as well. |
Q10) Overall does the magazine, poster and trailer look like profesional media products?
100% of people asked said they think our products do look professional, this shows the big advantage of audience feedback as without these questions we wouldn't know the constructive criticism on how to improve our products, but also the overall feel of how our products come across. |
CONCLUSION
Ultimately, we received quite an overwhelmingly positive response from the friends and others that we showed our products to. The vast majority are in agreement that the Poster, Trailer, and Magazine are all exemplary pieces of work that contribute to an overall successful and authentic horror brand. Generally, the most popular part of our Trailer was the camera work, whereas the Magazine and Poster were generally hailed for their respective professional aesthetic and colour schemes.
The trailer had in-depth audience feedback in comparison to the Poster and Magazine, however, if I was to do this stage again, I would film reaction videos to grasp people's genuine and immediate reactions to my work, in order to heighten the legitimacy of the audience analysis. I would also spread the word more for the trailer in order to get a larger sample demographic. As a last resort, I would have to view-both the video in order to get it more views and heighten the chances that the trailer appears in people's suggested lists on YouTube. This would help us completely non-biased and genuine audience feedback.
If I were to do the Poster again...
The magazine had a lot of positive feedback which showed us we had done something right in making a horror magazine, I think the online way we distributed the magazine was very easy and meant we could get a variety of responses.
However in order to improve I would make sure the surrounding features of the dominant image are up to a higher standard of quality, for example when making the secondary images, take proper images while making the trailer instead of taking stills from the trailer in order to make them look clearer. We could also take into concideration more of the colour scheme and re think the yellow for fonts and some answers say the yellow doesn't look professional.
